Strategic Communications and Multimedia Support
StraCon maintains an intimate knowledge and understanding of the Department of War (DOW) communication landscape, ensuring all messaging is compliant with Secretary of the Navy and Office of the Chief of Naval Operations public affairs guidelines. We lead the development of integrated communication strategies that bridge the gap between technical engineering data and executive-level decision-making. Our team commands technical mastery of multimedia platforms, visual storytelling, and high-consequence briefing development, accelerating the approval cycles for program milestones and public release. We deliver an exhaustive understanding of the program lifecycle, ensuring that every internal announcement, congressional inquiry response, and international partner update is executed with absolute accuracy, strategic timing, and brand consistency.
StraCon provides fully integrated strategic communications, public affairs, and multimedia support for government organizations operating in complex, high-visibility environments. Our teams connect leadership priorities, technical information, and organizational objectives with those responsible for supporting and executing the mission. We translate operational, scientific, and engineering information into accurate, accessible content without losing the substance behind the work.
From communications planning and executive messaging to digital content, video production and stakeholder engagement, StraCon supports the full communications life cycle. We begin with the mission objective, identify the intended audience and desired outcome, then develop the strategy and products needed to communicate effectively.
Communicating With Speed, Accuracy and Purpose
Defense organizations must reach service members, civilian employees, senior leaders, industry partners, community stakeholders and the public across websites, social media, video, print, events, and internal channels.
Information must move quickly without compromising accuracy, security, policy or operational considerations. Technical organizations face the added challenge of explaining complex scientific, engineering, and acquisition information outside the immediate program or mission community.
High operational tempo and competing approval requirements can create gaps in message consistency, production capacity, archival management, and performance measurement. Organizations demand support that operates at mission speed while preserving context, credibility and trust.
An Integrated Approach to Strategic Communications
StraCon begins with leadership intent, mission priorities, and audience needs rather than a predetermined product. We connect strategy, content, production, engagement and analysis through one coordinated approach.
Leadership & Congressional Briefing Support:
Synthesizing technical program data into high-impact presentations for flag officers and congressional staff.
Photography, graphic design, video production, motion graphics, broadcast support and digital signage.
Public Affairs Office Liaison:
Managing the "Clearance for Public Release" process, ensuring sensitive program milestones are messaged without compromising operations security.
Distinguished visitor engagements, ceremonies, exhibits, conferences and mission-focused events.
Speechwriting & Executive Thought Leadership:
Crafting authoritative scripts and talking points for program managers and Portfolio Acquisition Executive leadership.
Media assessments, performance analysis, multimedia asset management and technical archiving.
Strategic communications planning, campaign development, audience identification and message synchronization.
Event & Symposium Management:
Orchestrating program presence at major industry events (e.g., Sea-Air-Space, Tailhook) to highlight program successes.
Executive communications, speeches, press releases, articles, command publications and technical editing.
Crisis Communications:
Developing proactive and reactive messaging frameworks to address program risks or schedule shifts.
Website, newsletter and social media content tailored to each platform.
StraCon drives repeatable editorial and approval workflows that improve production speed while preserving accuracy. Our teams provide scalable production capacity during major events, leadership transitions, organizational changes and periods of increased operational tempo.
Supporting Operational and Technical Missions
For over a decade, StraCon has supported strategic communications, public affairs, and multimedia requirements for Navy organizations, including Commander, Naval Surface Forces Pacific (CNSP) and Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), a Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) warfare center. These organizations represent two distinct environments: a technical warfare center requiring accurate translation of scientific, engineering, and workforce information and an operational fleet command requiring timely, visible, event-driven support.
For CNSP, StraCon has supported public affairs, leadership communications and multimedia requirements for fleet operations, command milestones and high-visibility events. This work has included articles, press releases, speeches, photography, video production, social media, distinguished visitor support, media assessments and command publications such as Surface Warfare Officer magazine.
During USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) fire of July 2020, our CNSP team produced, vetted, and released public information, videos, and graphics; hosted livestreamed press conferences; managed social media; and conducted media analysis. For their efforts, our team earned the Thompson-Ravitz Award for Excellence in Navy Public Affairs as well as the Best in Show for the unit category for their crisis communications efforts. This same team was also recognized with a Silver Anvil Award from the Public Relations Society of America for the Bonhomme Richard campaign. Silver Anvil Awards celebrate the best strategic public relations campaigns of the year, as well as outstanding organizational excellence. This award is considered the icon of the profession and the benchmark of high performance in public relations.
Across NSWCDD and CNSP, StraCon has demonstrated the ability to adapt communications strategy and production support to operational, technical, leadership, workforce and public environments to provide unified messaging.
For NSWCDD, StraCon has supported communications focused on the command’s scientific, engineering, research, and workforce missions. Our teams have written and edited technical and workforce-centered stories that translate specialized subjects for broader internal and external audiences. This includes content highlighting engineering achievements, innovation, mission impact, workforce expertise, STEM outreach, and community engagement. StraCon’s support has also included congressional liaison, technical editing, multimedia production, and archival activities that connect the command’s specialized work with its broader relevance to national defense.
StraCon is embedded in multiple organizations providing strategic communications services at all levels within the supported commands. The following table provides a brief synopsis of examples of the support provided.
PMA-268/PMA-266: Unmanned Aviation Systems: Developed the strategic narrative for the MQ-25 Stingray and the MQ-9 Reaper, managing high-visibility messaging for the DOW’s premier autonomous programs.
PMX-201: Precision Strike Weapons: Orchestrated international partner communications for 40 clients regarding Naval Air Systems Command (FMS) weapon systems, ensuring global interoperability messaging.
PMA-275: V-22 Osprey: High-visibility Joint Program Office (U.S. Navy (USN), U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) and U.S. Air Force (USAF)). Managed multi-service stakeholder communications to ensure unified program messaging across diverse mission sets.
PMA-205 / NAWCTSD: Training Systems: Designed comprehensive training system “Roadmaps” that visualized the future of live, virtual, and constructive (LVC) training. Supported over 30 Naval Aviation training systems that include Full Flight Simulators. Supported 13 Surface and Subsurface systems.
PMA-273: Naval Aviation Training: Synthesized undergraduate flight training milestones into executive summaries for higher-echelon DOW leadership. Provided support for all flight training aircraft (T-6B, TH-73B, T-44, T-45 and T-54).
