V-22 Virtual Maintenance Trainer (StraCon/LSI)

V-22 Virtual Maintenance Trainer (StraCon/LSI)

The Navy contract (October 2019 award) requested a Virtual Maintenance Trainer (VMT) for the CMV-22 Osprey. While working closely with graphic artists and software engineers from LSI, the StraCon Subject Matter Experts (SME) produced and delivered the Theory of Operations, Fault Isolation Procedures, and routine maintenance procedures for seven systems. The team also developed a database for a component locator function, which allows the user to quickly search and locate parts throughout the aircraft.

The team faced pandemic-related challenges with the VMT production. With the odds of an on-time delivery stacked against them, the StraCon/LSI team not only met the Phase 1 delivery deadline of March 2021 but exceeded all original and anticipated expectations.

The U.S. Navy customer and CMV-22 Maintenance Training Integrated Project Team Lead at NAVAIR PMA-275 were impressed with the VMT product. The StraCon SMEs presented the VMT to large audiences in both MCAS New River, NC, and NAS North Island, CA, receiving an overwhelming positive reaction. The U.S. Navy and the U.S. Marines were so impressed by the VMT that they moved forward to Phase 2 development. This major accomplishment by the StraCon/LSI team will forever “leave fingerprints on the future.”
