Navy awards StraCon $20M to support PMA-242 strike readiness
FORT WORTH, Texas – April 30, 2026 – StraCon has secured a $20 million contract from the Department of the Navy to provide five years (base and four one-year option periods) of program management support for the Naval Air Systems Command’s Direct and Time Sensitive Strike Weapon Systems Office.
Operating under the Program Executive Office for Unmanned Aviation and Strike Weapons, PMA-242 manages the acquisition, development and sustainment of precision-guided munitions. Key systems include the Advanced Anti-Radiation Guided Missile (AARGM); AARGM Extended Range; Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System; High-Speed Anti-Radiation Missile; and Joint Air-to-Ground Missile. These advanced weapons are integrated across a range of platforms, including the F/A-18 Hornet, AV-8B Harrier, UH-1Y, AH-1Z and MH-60 helicopters. They provide strategic versatility and rapid-response capability to both Navy and Marine Corps aviation units.
StraCon, as the prime contractor, will provide comprehensive program management, financial analysis, acquisition management and operations security for domestic and foreign military sales. This includes managing procurement, writing statements of work, and tracking extensive maintenance data to oversee the complex logistics required for these munitions.
StraCon’s support ensures each system remains viable over decades of storage and deployment by monitoring energetic degradation through lifecycle testing.
“The ultimate goal is to deliver weapon lethality, reliability and readiness, ensuring that when a warfighter fires, the weapon is accurate, effective and safe,” said Doug Mederos, Chief Customer Officer at StraCon.
StraCon brings nearly 18 years of defense industry experience to the mission, including five years as a subcontractor on this program. The company uses a structured approach to assume prime contractor responsibilities without impacting ongoing defense operations.
“Our reputation for execution, our ability to understand the customer’s mission and vision, and then ultimately be able to deliver is what sets us apart,” Mederos said.
